Senior Brand Designer, Global Creative

The role requires a pixel-perfect passion for typography, grid systems and all the finer details of a vibrant brand experience. Your contribution will have a significant impact on furthering our brand’s development across the company while inspiring both our student and instructor communities. This position requires a balance of creativity, thoughtful improvisation and leadership in a fast-paced, iterative culture.

In this role, you’ll be thinking big and small, collaborating with cross functional partners to shape the way that the brand influences each customer touchpoint. You’ll take ownership of everything brand working with a wide range of internal as well as international partners to ensure brand consistency. Additionally, you will have a significant opportunity to help us further the Udemy brand, evolving guidelines/templates/assets and playing a significant role as brand steward across the organization.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Champion the evolution of our design system and brand ID toolkit with a focus on scalability and consistency across the organization
  • Ensure all work aligns with design principles and brand standards
  • Continually update and improve upon our brand guidelines
  • Utilize visual storytelling skills to create concepts that inspire and motivate 
  • Concept and implement design ideas quickly, producing comps, storyboards, initial graphic concepts, and final deliverables for emails, advertising, and promotions
  • Be a master multi-tasker, brainstorming and developing brand consistency for multiple projects simultaneously, remaining flexible through revisions while keeping a keen eye on every detail
  • Create consistent and scalable design solutions across all platforms
  • Collaborate with copywriters and video team to ensure copy and visuals are in perfect sync and are as powerful, vivid, and compelling as possible
  • Be a team player who works to improve the group’s technical and creative performance
  • Work as part of a larger brand team alongside creative producers, campaign managers, and production designers, to ensure that all projects are completed on time, with excellence
  • Work closely with the brand team to help maintain brand consistency through design critiques and design exercises

We're excited about you because you have:

  • 8+ years of experience at a creative or ad agency, graphic design firm, or in-house creative department
  • The ability to easily understand the ramifications of design decisions on a global level
  • The ability to think beyond what we “should do,” combined with a desire to figure out what we can do
  • Demonstrates expertise of layout, typography and visual hierarchy
  • Knowledge of the digital landscape in media design and technology, responsive design principles, email, paid ads, product design and collateral 
  • The visual skills and desire to delight the user and deliver a world-class experience
  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and tactically to articulate compelling visual language concepts, mood boards and design with high quality renders
  • Experience in concepting, ideation, execution and a robust portfolio that shows your talent in both print and digital spaces
  • Experience working with design accessibility principles, user flows, testing, low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes 
  • Deep understanding of how to apply the methodologies of design and research with qualitative and quantitative data that will be important to solve key business problems
  • Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, understanding of HTML/CSS and Web browser capabilities. Proficiency (or a desire to learn) in Sketch, Figma, and/or other prototyping tools. 
  • Highly collaborative with willingness to work in group settings while meeting deadlines for multiple stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Experience with Illustration, Iconography, Infographics, Video, Motion Graphics and other dynamic tools is a strong plus
  • Ability to utilize user research and metrics to inform design decisions
  • A can-do attitude without ego

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in navigating at least one major rebrand
  • Unique exploratory processes welcome
  • Skill or passion in any creative area beyond brand design, ex: painting, photography, music, garden gnome sculpting, etc
