Job Description

Our Operations teams are the heart and soul of Uber. These are the teams that take our global product and localize it to an assigned market, while creating thousands of economic opportunities for drivers, and making transportation cheaper and more accessible for our riders. We are in the midst of incredible growth, which requires hard work. The Senior Operations & Logistics Manager role is a unique opportunity to have a measurable impact on your city through growth, optimization and engagement of the driver-partner community on our platform. This is a critical role as you will be in charge of continually improving the rider experience through greater availability of drivers, while optimizing costs and streamlining processes associated with the supply side of our business. This data-driven role calls for a combination of analytical thinking and interpersonal ability to oversee relationships with a very valuable part of our business: our driver partners. This is also a leadership role: as a senior member of a city team, you will be managing a team of experts and coordinators and overseeing multiple workstreams within this part of the marketplace.

You will work with data to monitor driver behavior and ensure efficiency through asset utilization, product improvement and supply-chain management. You will lead the collective thinking of the city-team to continuously identify new opportunities for growing the supply-side of the business. You will lead partnerships with external stakeholders to capitalize synergies for accelerating our growth.

This role is ultimately responsible for making sure we have drivers on the road, where we need them, and when we need them, at all times.

What you'll do

  • Big picture planning. As a senior team member, you will be actively shaping the strategy for growing the supply side of the business and will be an active participant in other parts of the business.
  • Lead. You will have a team of experts and coordinators to manage. They are enthusiastic, deeply-driven individuals requiring mentoring & guidance to create magic on the ground.
  • Analytics. Utilize driver data to understand driver behavior and areas for improvement in our driver communication, sign-up and incentive programs.
  • Develop & Optimize Processes. Take big picture ideas and break them into actionable steps with progressive timelines for completion.
  • Partner Relations. Oversee driver relationships, identify and resolve problem areas for drivers, and negotiate with businesses for partner rewards.
  • Driver Support. Lead the day-to-day issues of thousands of drivers on our system.
  • Collaborate. You will have the backing of subject-matter experts who you will collaborate on a daily basis to make magic happen on the ground.
  • Product Improvement. Diligently search for bugs or new features which could improve a seamless driver and rider experience.

What you'll need

  • MBA / equivalent master's degree with 5+ years of work experience in strategy consulting, banking, operations or start-ups - OR - Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, or equivalent with 7+ years of work experience in strategy consulting, banking, operations or start-ups.
  • Excellent excel skills, SQL skills preferred.
  • Previous managerial experience - you should have previous experience of leading a small / mid-sized team in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated record of leading large-scale initiatives and projects at your organization.
  • Ability to work together with teams across the country to implement the best answer for your city
  • Ability to take initiative in a constantly-changing work environment and adopt a generalist do-what-it-takes mindset.
