About the Role
UberEats is a global platform helping millions find what they need every day. We're looking for a Scientist with strong analytical skills to join our Search team. In this role, you'll partner closely with product, engineering, and design to analyze user behavior, evaluate experiments, and generate insights that improve the Search experience. Experience with causal inference, A/B testing, and user journey analysis is highly valued.
What You'll Do
- Refine ambiguous questions and generate new hypotheses about the product through a deep understanding of data, our customers, and our business.
- Design experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions.
- Define how our teams measure success, by developing metrics, in close partnership with cross functional partners.
- Develop data-driven insights and work with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to improve the product and develop technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with other Scientists and Engineers to build and improve data foundations.

Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields. (If Ph.D, or M.S. degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 3+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent).
- Strong Python or R foundation and expertise.
- Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, optimization, economics, and analytics.
- Experience using statistical methodologies such as sampling, statistical estimates, descriptive statistics, or similar.
- Experience with causal inference techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of key concepts in Machine Learning and Ranking personalization.
- Experience in building consumer-facing products in a technology company.
- Experience using SQL in a production environment.
- Experience managing projects across large, ambiguous scopes and driving initiatives in a fast moving, cross-functional environment.
- Experience guiding and mentoring other Data Scientists.
- Experience synthesizing data analyses into clear insights to influence product direction.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.
