Manager, Governance Strategy & Engagement
About the Role
We are currently searching for a Manager, Governance Strategy and Engagement as part of an effort to build a team of professionals who will support Uber's governance strategy, shareholder engagement, and global reporting efforts. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team and to work on cutting edge issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This position will be supervised by the Global Head of Governance Strategy and Engagement. The position preferably will be located in our New York or San Francisco office.
The candidate filling this role will be a member of the Corporate Legal Organization.
What You'll Do
Drive internal cross-functional strategy and engagement:
- Serve as the Governance Strategy and Engagement team's dedicated climate/environmental expert and liaison to Sustainability teams across all lines of business and corporate operations.
- Drive strategic alignment and compliance by supporting climate/environmental related gap assessments and materiality assessments efforts as appropriate, with a focus on integrating climate considerations into strategic planning.
- Chair the Global Governance Strategy and Engagement Working Group, driving cross-functional coordination and alignment under the oversight of the Global Head of Governance Strategy and Engagement and its SteerCo.
- Improve supply chain governance strategy due diligence.
Guide environmental disclosures and global reporting:
- Responsible for leading our global reporting and compliance requirements which can include bringing the company in alignment with regulatory mandates and reporting frameworks that align with the company's reporting strategy, and working closely with internal subject matter experts, practitioners and external partners.
- Monitor external trends, benchmarks, and evolving global frameworks and standards to inform Uber's Governance Strategy and Engagement disclosures and overall strategy.
- Lead project management for Uber's climate and environmental reporting on an ongoing basis. This includes working collaboratively across the company to accurately report Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and climate-related performance, with a commitment to continual improvement and an aim of global reporting.
- Draft and actively contribute to Uber's governance strategy and environmental disclosures and reports, including the Governance Strategy and Engagement Report, 10-K and proxy statement as appropriate.
- Responsible for leading and executing Uber's reporting strategy for CDP.
- Lead any pertinent climate/environmental disclosures as appropriate.
Lead climate-focused stakeholder engagement:
- Participate as a core member of our stewardship shareholder engagements as the climate subject matter expert responsible for internal and external institutional knowledge, programs and initiatives. Shareholder engagement includes exposure to Management, Board of Directors, and other adhoc external stakeholders.
- Assist with responses to governance strategy and sustainability related questionnaires and surveys from the business, customers, stakeholders, institutional investors and other governance strategy groups, such as raters and rankers.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a climate/environmental subject matter expert and reporting lead, or a related field.
- Experience with climate/sustainability reporting.
- BA or BS Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of key global regulatory and sustainability reporting standards and frameworks including the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
- Confidence operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding project management, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to perform in nimble, rapidly changing, and growing environments.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated experience working with business leaders.
- Collaborative approach with both business and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$152,000 per year - USD$168,500 per year.
