Finance Lead, Uber Payments BV

About the Role

Uber Payments B.V. (UPBV) is an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licensed in the Netherlands, operating as part of Uber's regulated payments ecosystem in the European Economic Area (EEA). We are seeking a Finance Lead to take ownership of UPBV's Finance Function.

In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) and act as the primary liaison between the UPBV Management Board and various other teams at Uber Technologies (UTI). You will ensure that operational, regulatory, and resilience requirements are fully integrated into the day-to-day finance operations. This includes overseeing compliance with regulations of the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandse Bank, DNB), the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), and other key pan-European regulatory frameworks.

What You'll Do

  1. Lead the UPBV Finance Function and take ownership of all UPBV finance domains.
  2. Manage UPBV risk within the defined appetite in multiple finance domains (Financial Reporting, Safeguarding, Payment Processing, etc..).
  3. Maintain UPBV Policies and Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) for multiple finance domains.
  4. Maintain and monitor key controls ensuring appropriate design and effectiveness.
  5. Review month-end close and management accounts.
  6. Manage submission of UPBV finance regulatory reporting.
  7. Oversee the external audit process.
  8. Ensure safeguarding & payment processing is resilient, operates in line with regulations, and is cash-flow efficient.
  9. Ensure all financial regulatory processes are run accurately & efficiently in a timely manner.
  10. Review and advise the management board on all EEA product launches, ensuring compliance with financial regulations while at the same time ensuring efficient product design.
  11. Review accounting set-ups are accurate and in line with regulatory requirements for new and existing products in the EEA.
  12. Collaborate with 2nd-line & Legal to ensure compliance with regulatory changes.
  13. Prepare the annual budget and manage spending within the approved budget.
  14. Actively manage the outsourcing relationship with global UTI to ensure the timely and compliant delivery of finance services as defined by the Service Level Agreement and UPBV's regulatory requirements.
  15. Work closely with Global UTI teams such as Treasury, Accounting, Payments Operations, & Tax & Reporting.
  16. Support with external and internal audits to identify and address compliance gaps in UPBV's processes & control framework

What You'll Need
  1. Qualified ACA/CPA/CA/ACCA or equivalent.
  2. 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, with a preference for Big 4 experience or experience in a regulated financial institution.
  3. Understanding of IFRS and Dutch GAAP principles and taxation.
  4. Exceptional communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to engage and manage senior stakeholders across all levels of a complex, regulated, and cross-functional organization.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and drive change in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Attention to detail, with the ability to drill down when necessary whilst maintaining a helicopter view
  7. Highly proactive and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and focus on material risks and regulatory matters.
  8. Comfortable managing ambiguity and adapting in a dynamic environment.
  9. Strong understanding of data infrastructure and governance for financial data
  10. Strong data literacy, with the ability to manage, analyze, and draw conclusions from large financial data sets.
