2 months agoChicago, IL

At Uber, we reimagine the way the world moves for the better. The idea was born on a snowy night in Paris in 2008, and ever since then, our DNA of reimagination and reinvention carries on. We've grown into a global platform moving people and things in ever-expanding ways, taking on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters make movement happen at the push of a button for everyone, everywhere.

About the Role

You will be leading an area of our platform engineering, setting the pace for taking projects from concept to release. Working alongside the product, data, design and operations teams, you'll determine the best ways to offer scalable and reliable services that are used as the foundation we build our products on. Finally, you'll join other technical leaders within engineering to help us grow as a team. A strong background in software engineering is vital in this role, but a desire to understand the business, as well as a keen sense of self-awareness and innate EQ are equally valued.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of top technical experts while attracting top talent to the shared vision of the team. You will also build and refine the team structure to scale.
• Set Vision: work with product managers, designers, data scientists/analysts, and product ops to define roadmap and long term product and technical visions.
• Ensure execution of technical projects ranging from performance tuning to coming up with architecture for AV trucks integration.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong leadership skills but also deeply technical. There is no need to code, but you'll need to have a strong understanding of technical architecture, system design, and problem solving acuity on sophisticated technical challenges.
• Experience working in fast paced environments with dynamic product requirements.
• Experience managing engineers.
• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Enterprise integrations, business applications, extensible/scalable design for B2B.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams through technical leads.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with many other roles and partners within the company.
• Experience hiring and developing a large team.
• Experience leading & scaling platform teams.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering or similar field
