Video Processing Engineer

Video/audio processing and delivery is one of Twitch’s core competencies. We operate one of the largest private CDNs (Content Delivery Network) and deliver live video to millions of concurrent viewers (10 millions daily active users). Our ingest system processes 4 years of video every hour and services 2+ million unique streamers per month. As a Video Processing Engineer, you will be working on the core transcoding and transmuxing software which produces all of the video data we serve to our viewers on various platforms. This will include both research and development projects as well as ongoing software maintenance, all in the interest of providing the best viewing experience possible to our users.


  • Lead the VOD media processing
  • Develop new features of core video processing to support various Twitch products and external customers
  • Collaborate across the company to define, design and build and improve critical video systems


  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong C and C++ development skills
  • Knowledge of video/audio compression and packetization standards: AVC, HEVC,VP9, HE-AAC, TS, MP4
  • Knowledge of Internet video streaming technologies: RTMP, HLS, DASH, WebRTC
  • Minimum five years of experience developing low-level/cross-platform software
