Senior Software Engineer - Systems Security

Providing a secure platform for our engineers is a core mandate at Twitch. We are looking for experienced, talented Software Engineers to join our growing Systems Security Engineering. As a senior software engineer on our team, you’ll be working on creating security software and tools that will serve thousands of hosts. This will include both ongoing feature requests and maintenance as well as future research and development projects, all in interest of making securing Twitch as painless as possible. The right candidate will be solid a software engineer who is comfortable at every level of a web application stack, passionate about scalable architectures, and highly values automation.


  • Lead and own the technical product direction
  • Work on security products and tools including secret management, user to service auth, and service to service auth.
  • Maintain and evolve existing Go codebase
  • Learn, understand and implement existing and new industry standard
  • Write maintainable code with extensive test coverage, working in a professional software engineering environment (with source control, dev/stage/prod release cycle, continuous deployment)
  • Collaborate across the company to define, design and build and improve critical security products


  • Strong development skills with compiled languages
  • Knowledge of concepts like OAuth and OpenID Connect
  • Minimum five years experience developing scalable architecture
  • Minimum five years of experience developing software with C/C++/Java
  • You know how to ship code in fast, iterative cycles
  • A Bachelors in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

Bonus points

  • You know Go and have used it in production ready systems
  • You’ve worked with AWS before
  • Notable contributions to open source software projects. Send us a link to your contributions.
  • You’ve built brilliant APIs/interfaces/software that other programmers love to use
  • You’re familiar with tools like Puppet and Terraform
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
