Senior Network Reliability Engineer

A Senior Network Reliability Engineer is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the global Twitch network with a focus on reliability. The team works to understand and prevent every alert and fault in the Twitch network. A Reliability Engineer is also responsible for engineering and configuration management in the Twitch network including new deployments, augments, migrations. A Reliability Engineer works to identify and create automation solutions for repetitive processes and tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of network implementation, support and operations
  • Manage a global backbone, including: traffic engineering, capacity planning, path diversity / fate sharing
  • Collaborate with fellow network engineers on design proposals and projects
  • Work closely with other engineering teams to solve, or diagnose, network related challenges
  • Create network diagrams, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures
  • Work problems to completion with various vendor technical support centers
  • Travel to domestic and international locations to deploy new, and augment existing, sites
  • Automate as much as possible
  • Rotate through on-call support

Requirements

  • 5+ years operating and managing networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge / experience in a multi-vendor environment (Arista, Juniper, Cisco, etc.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of peering and transit interconnection relationships
  • Advanced knowledge of: BGP, OSPF, MPLS-TE, IPv4/IPv6, QoS, RIB/FIB, SNMP, SYSLOG, sFlow/NetFlow
  • Working knowledge of: 10/40/100GbE, fiber cabling, optical transceivers, server load balancing
  • Working knowledge of: WDM technologies, SDN concepts, and SQL databases
  • Experience using open source tools (BIRD, pmacct, Cacti, RANCID, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with Linux, python and shell scripting
  • Ability to code in a relevant language

  • Advanced level certification (CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent)
