Frontend Software Engineer - Ads & Promotions

We are the Twitch engineering team building out the advertising and promotion products. Our core mission; enable creators to earn a living on Twitch through advertising and influence. We develop different advertising products and services that generate shared revenue as well as promotion systems and programs to help creators grow their communities.

Twitch is seeking a engineers with the curiosity, drive and ingenuity to develop web features that drive the advertising and promotion business. These features give creators the control and data they need to get promoted and help Twitch distribute advertising. Our products range from industry standard advertising formats to innovative real-time experiences special to Twitch. They are expected to have user empathy while working with API developers and design to produce high quality features. They will also be expected to work in a collaborative environment, able to interact with internal tech and business teams, external integration partners, and end users.

  • Collaborate with team member to develop Twitch web features as well as internal tools
  • Identify gaps in existing features and propose new approaches to old problems
  • Improve engineering processes and tools to increase team effectiveness
  • Work across both technical and business focused teams to deliver value to our creators


  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or prior engineering experience
  • Proficient coder in one or more of the following: React, Ember, Rails
  • Experience developing web applications from the ground up
  • Superb communication skills are required. You must be able to explain things both to business and technical audiences

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with one of the following languages (Elixir, Go, Python)
  • Familiarity in the AWS ecosystem of services (EC2, RDS, Dynamo, Lambda, CloudWatch)
  • Familiarity or experience consuming GraphQL APIs
  • Experience integrating a Data Management Platform
  • Experience with HTML5 video playback
  • Knowledge of VAST/VPAID standards
  • Experience integrating with an ad platform or SDK: Amazon Ad Exchange, Google IMA/GMA SDK, DoubleClick API
