Who?

Twilio is looking for a Director of Internal Audit with previous leadership over Sarbanes Oxley compliance to join our Accounting organization.  You are right for this role if you are passionate about adding value to an organization through an understanding and analysis of key business processes and the development of effective processes and controls.  You have a passion for continual process improvement with the objective of improving the control environment on an ongoing basis. You see the bigger picture, excel at juggling multiple priorities and thrive at going above and beyond. You also exhibit a high attention to detail coupled with strong analytical skills.  The ability to problem solve in a creative environment is a trait that you have exhibited in prior organizations. Being a collaborative business partner, you will partner with all functional teams and leaders throughout the organization. Ideally, you have more than ten years of experience with a mix of the Big Four and/or Internal Audit.  You have unquestioned credentials with a BA/BS degree and additional qualifications such as a CPA, CIA or CISA. You may also have other audit, risk management or fraud qualifications such as a CFE designation. Over your career to date you have acquired a deep understanding of audit industry best practices including the use and implementation of software tools and have strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills that allow interactions with business partners.  You have demonstrated the ability to be a results oriented leader who can manage, influence, and drive strategic solution development across diverse teams while independently operating in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects. The candidate must be a team player, have a positive “can do” attitude, and the willingness to learn new concepts. Additionally, a desire to maintain and enhance our unique culture and an ongoing desire to strive for continuous improvement by adding your talents to Twilio is highly desired.  Finally, you enjoy mentoring, developing talent and building teams.

What?

The individual in this role will have primary responsibility over all aspects of planning and coordinating Sarbanes-Oxley, working closely with management in developing proper scoping of the program.  In the above capacity, you will act as an advisor to management on key control documentation and design effective and efficient controls for scalability and stronger assurance.

The above responsibilities will also include driving the company’s risk assessment, identifying risks and controls, and proposing audit areas/projects as part of the annual audit plan.  While communicating testing results to internal and external stakeholders, you will also be assisting management with the creation of actions to remediate deficiencies and develop risk mitigation plans with stakeholders.  On a recurring basis, you will track, monitor, and validate the completion of audit observations and will actively participate and add value in assessing the adequacy of management responses and corrective actions implemented.

Developing and maintaining positive relationships within Twilio will be a key driver of success in this role, including developing positive relationships with the business functions with the goal of being a valued business advisor. Other important relationships will be with control owners and senior management to ensure communication of critical issues in a timely manner as well as by collaborating with the technology audit team members to ensure alignment on audit work, including coordination on the audit of system scope, work program, fieldwork and reporting.  

Strong relationships with the external auditors will be critical to future success as well as effective supervision and review of the work of the company’s co-sourcing audit partners.   

You will report and present to the Twilio Audit Committee on a periodic basis as defined by the Audit Committee with scheduled deliverables and drive the annual audit plan with the concurrence of the Audit Committee.  Additionally, the preparation of verbal and written reports on audit results to company management and internal stakeholders with recommendations of corrective actions or improvements as required is an important objective of this role.  As the need arises, you will also be a valued resource to participate in ad-hoc projects.
