Network Architect

Chicago, IL

The Network Architect is responsible for the technical oversight providing overall guidance, leadership, and solid execution of network architectures and data analysis related to project initiatives. This role participates on multiple, technically complex, mission-critical, and/or high-profile data projects or initiatives simultaneously.

Responsibilities (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).

1. Plans, researches, evaluates, designs, and develops network systems by applying engineering, hardware and software design theories and principles to develop a compatible system infrastructure in line with organization strategies

2. Prepares detailed specifications and documentation from high-level designs

3. Provides designs for network changes to management for approval.

4. Recommends network equipment improvements.

5. Analyzes business needs to drive changes to network architecture.

6. Evaluates network performance to ensure optimization.

7. Evaluates devices and vendors to find the best solutions for the company at a low cost.

8. Monitors vendor contracts against results and escalates issues to management when necessary.

9. Produces documentation, including diagrams, that detail network architecture implementation.

10. Drafts and maintains policies for deployments and daily operations to ensure efficiency.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in technology and/or computer science or equivalent work experience.

• 3-5 years of experience, preferably in information technology, systems, and/or cloud services.

• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Experience working with system architecture.

Work Environment: Generally, works in climate-controlled office environment.
