Advertising Sales Executive


We are seeking a savvy Advertising Sales Executive to join our team at the LA Jolla Light newspaper. The Multimedia Sales Executive will use a consultative sales approach to aggressively increase advertising revenue among our potential and existing clients (focusing on small to medium size businesses selling multiplatform products Print, Digital and Direct Mail for our 11 UT weekly newspapers).

  • Primary liaison between newspaper and advertising client base; maintain and service accounts within a designated geographic area, category or assigned client base.
  • Utilize the Partnership Selling process to grow revenue, to include: Needs assessment, proposal and presentation, closing, and ongoing account development with each advertising client.

  • Effectively work with internal departments to properly service advertisers’ needs.

  • Assist customers with design and layout of ads as necessary; advise as to effective use of advertising; develop ideas for spec ads.

  • Process advertising materials to ensure error-free publication of ads.

  • Will drive own vehicle on sales calls daily; must be available to attend after-hours community meetings and/or advertiser functions.



  • A Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of relevant sales/marketing experience (preferably in the media industry).
  • Must have a strong Multimedia and Newspaper/Magazine Print selling background.
  • A high-energy, self-starter, and creative, analytical customer-centric attitude. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills. Demonstrated success exceling in highly-competitive environments.
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
