Software Development/IT Security Intern (Alpharetta, GA)

Our Alpharetta R&D team is looking for a part-time (20-29 hours per week) intern with a strong interest in a career in software engineering and IT security. The successful candidate will be a current college student in a Computer Science, Information Security/Technology, or related program, have an eye for detail, a desire to learn quickly, and a strong technical background. Responsibilities will include setting up test systems, installing and configuring a variety of security software, testing software, writing scripts, and generally assisting software engineers as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

Setting up virtual environments for R&D

Installing and configuring commercial security software products and appliances

Testing software prior to release

Writing scripts in support of automation

Required Skills and Experience:

Currently enrolled undergraduate, preferably with a major in computer science, information technology, or related field

Impeccable written English

Enthusiastic attention to detail

Strong proficiency with both Linux and Windows system usage

Takes responsibility for quality and timeliness of work

Able to quickly learn new technology

Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment

A strong interest in programming, with at least a basic proficiency in one language and a desire to learn new languages.

Highly Desired Skills:

Experience, involvement, or strong interest in computer security

System administration skills (Windows, Unix/Linux)

Solid Understanding of Networking and the TCP/IP Stack

SQL and Database skills

Proficiency in any of the following languages: Python, C#, Lua
