Senior Technical Manager, Experiences & Rentals

TripAdvisor is looking for an experienced Technical Manager as part of its Post Purchase Experience team in the NYC office. The primary responsibility of this manager will be to grow and lead the Post-Purchase Experience team for TripAdvisor Experiences. In addition to this, this manager will also be responsible for advocating more generally for the NYC office for all of the TripAdvisor Experience and Rentals engineers who work there - currently there are nine Experiences and Rentals engineers in the New York Office.

The primary responsibility, as mentioned, will be around the growth and success of the Post-Purchase experience engineering team in NYC. This will require hands on leadership, hiring, training, and supervising a strong technical team as they execute on the Post-Purchase experience roadmap.

The expectation is that the NYC office will expand over time - both for Post-Purchase Experience and for other engineering teams. The NYC manager will be responsible for supporting and managing this growth including:

  • Developing talent
  • Creating and nurturing a productive and collaborative office culture
  • Advocating for the office generally

Qualifications:
  • You have a BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • You have at least 6 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years managing a tea
  • You show a sense of ownership and pride in your role as a leader, and you can make us believe you'll excel
  • You have consistently exceeded expectations throughout your career, and you can describe specific activities and projects that demonstrate this behavior
  • You can manage a team towards long-term goals while delivering new capability daily
  • You have the ability to work with everyone from engineers to product owners to C-level executives to help communicate, prioritize, influence and inform key product decisions
  • You have successfully hired and built teams including interviewing, on-boarding, and mentoring
  • You find the live operations of your team's code fulfilling and worth getting right
  • It would be great if you had in-depth and hands-on knowledge of Linux, Java, and web development
