Our Johannesburg Development team is looking for a Solutions Architect.

The Team's Focus

Transunion works with businesses and consumers to gather, analyze, and deliver critical information needed to build strong economies around the world. We help >45,000 businesses manage risk, and 500 million consumers understand and manage credit.

To do this, we rely on a Solutions Architect that's critical to the business. As our Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end functional, efficient and implementable technology solutions for projects. You will define, maintain, communicate, and implement standards consistent with established architecture and strategy.

How you'll contribute:

• Partner with the South African Solution Architecture team to -

o Assist and guide the team of business analysts, developers and testers in setting best practice design and process methods and standards.

o Provide support for complex issues, problems or projects.

o Build your own technical and professional skills, you will proactively seek out on-the-job training from senior leadership and other resources in the company.

o Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with business partners as well as Business Analysts, Development and testing teams.

What we expect:

As a Solutions Architect, you'll need to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with occasionally conflicting priorities. Key responsibilities span 2 areas:

Solutions Strategy and Architecture

Ensure all project designs comply with Technology design, architectural policies and standards. Participate in sessions with architects to obtain inputs to determine how they view the standards and policies.

Participate in and contribute to the creation of technology landscapes (document that defines 'as is' technology environment), updates and maintenance thereof to ensure the documents remain current.

Identify systems that are at risk as part of the design process (age, support, stability & technology) and highlight in the landscape document.

Propose continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design work methods and service offerings e.g. conceptual design, high-level design, review forums, etc. Where gaps have been identified, come up with improvement proposals to be assessed.

Provide requirements to Enterprise Design Forum (EDA) that drive strategic direction for business, application, information, and technology architectures e.g. receive new business requirements which are not catered for in the current architect standards and liaise with architects to cater for this going forward.

Work with the domain architects to provide input into the new technology strategies within the understanding of the total environment as a whole.

Solution Design

Facilitate workshops to help determine and propose a solution. Attend workshops with business to ensure business requirements are understood; attend workshops with architects, other solution designers, vendors and services throughout the value chain to obtain input into a solution.

Ensure that all designs you create are resilient, effective and can be integrated into the technology landscape thereby ensuring sustainability and strategic intent of the organisation.

Facilitate JAD sessions with key stakeholders to understand customer requirements and to translate these into an appropriate solution per the service agreement.

Incorporate or adapt all Designs with an industry respected framework. TOGAF 9.1 is the framework of choice.

Present designs to the Enterprise Design Forum (EDA).

Ensure that the solution conforms to the original design by performing design alignment reviews during and post implementation. Follow through during the implementation process

Provide comprehensive design consulting advice to business for the purpose of guiding the development of business case formulation.

Provide comprehensive design documentation as per design department standards and guidelines.

What you'll bring:

As Solutions Consultant, you should have 3 -4 years of technical experience in an IT environment. In addition, you should have a completed BSc Computer Science or Bcom Informatics degree.

Technical Skills

• At least five (5) years' experience within an IT environment

• At least five (5) years' experience with IT Applications, Integration, and Infrastructure across multiple technologies.

• Exposure to IT/Architecture principles, policies and practices with enterprise

• Exposure to ERP / Finance Solutions advantageous.

• Exposure to the TOGAF 9 architecture framework.

• Abinitio technology experience is a plus.

• Strong Visio, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint expertise.

Professional skills

• Good analytical skills.

• Demonstrated competency in the execution of new tools and methodologies.

• Ability to manage concurrent projects to plan.

• Must have experience doing presentations.

• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize new ideas and solutions, thinking outside and inside the current system framework.

• Grasp of performance and process optimization, across batch and high volume transactional online.

• Ability to instill quality in every aspect of the job function.

• Effectively manage Conflict resolution skills

• Ability to negotiate effectively

• Must be an excellent communicator (written and verbal) and work well within a matrix organization.

• Be security conscience on a personal and business level.

• Good at prioritizing tasks, differentiating between value delivery and singular interest with low value.
