Overview

BidFX is a FinTech start-up on a mission to disrupt the foreign exchange market, applying innovative technology to tap FX liquidity. Foreign exchange is the largest financial market in the world, with $5 trillion traded every day. We are a small but fast-growing company with big, global aspirations. We aim to connect the world of finance. We operate a successful core trading platform, with direct connectivity to all major banks, fronted by a sophisticated trading user interface. We seek candidates who wish to help us fulfil our vision and share in our success. We value diversity and offer equal opportunities to all.

You will be an accomplished test engineer who naturally utilises automation and continuous integration to guarantee software quality. You will prefer programming your way to success over repetitively re-running manual test scripts. You will be comfortable working with senior managers, designers and application developers alike. You like to operate a few steps ahead of developers but preparing test plans at the design stage. If you are excited by new technology and applying it to solve complex real-world problems then this role is for you!

Responsibilities

Our application developers create innovative HTML5 trading systems that are globally deployed from cloud-based containers. Quality is an essential part of our offering. Our approach to QA goes well beyond manual point and click testing. We engineer quality into the fabric of our product. We are seeking an experienced test automation engineer to take charge of the automated testing of web applications and APIs, and ultimately streamline our quality assurance process. In this role, you will:

  • Get involved early in the product design process
  • Create test plans and test cases
  • Develop automated tests
  • Review user interfaces for conformity, functionality and design guidelines
  • Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through to resolution
  • Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality
  • Work with developers to understand the overall technical architecture
  • Lay the foundations for QA team expansion.

Qualifications

You will be enthusiastic, well organised and adaptable: a quick learner, able to pick up new concepts with relative ease. You will be dedicated to quality and have a passion for efficient, timely project delivery. You will also have great interpersonal and communication skills. No experience of electronic trading or FX is required but some knowledge is desirable. You will have:

  • A bachelor's degree or better qualification
  • At least 3 years of experience in web testing
  • The ability to program in JavaScript and/or Java
  • At least 1 year of programming and SQL database usage
  • Advanced knowledge of testing approaches, techniques and methodologies
  • Experience of automated testing tools
  • Strong experience in writing testing documentation
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attentiveness to detail and a curiosity for technology.

We are open to candidates introducing their preferred toolset and techniques. We will provide training and mentoring, help you connect with informed peers, and will allocate a budget for your onward career development.

We are a community of dependable, responsible and committed staff. Quality is at the heart of everything we do. Together we commit to excellent client service. Client issues get priority but we value our free time and appreciate that you also have commitments to friends and family life. So, we cooperate to complete tasks during normal office hours.

In addition to a generous salary our bonus scheme rewards loyal staff and gives opportunities to share in the company's success. You'll get 25 days of annual leave (rising to 30 with service) and 3 personal days, on top of national holidays. We provide a full benefits package. Small perks include free breakfast, monthly office lunches, Friday drinks, and regular social activities. Our office is located in London's theatreland, near Covent Garden. The area is pleasant with a cool vibe, lots of good eateries and shopping opportunities.
