Who we're looking for
Toyota's Vehicle Prototype Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer in the Vehicle Assembly Engineering and Project planning/management.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead preparation of assembly tooling and vehicle engineering during prototype builds to ensure highest quality on time vehicle delivery to vehicle evaluation groups.
Reporting to the Prototype Development Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Vehicle Prototype department's objective to support Toyota North America Product Development and Vehicle Evaluation.
What you'll be doing
The required work is cyclical and will change during a project from early planning for required jig/tooling to CV build assembly engineering leadership for major CV builds, overall project leadership for minor retrofit projects.
- Support PD assembly process/tooling plan based on SE/Genzu data, finalize based on production drawing release considering safety/quality/productivity/cost
- Conduct sourcing, kickoff and preparation of tooling to suppliers.
- Execute PD Operation Plan for assembly engineering and tooling, tracking for progress to meet project needs.
- Track and follow overall build/quality issues to closure.
- Support daily assembly build activities to meet vehicle or BEV pack delivery needs and project KPI's.
- Assembly or BEV pack tooling and fixturing design
- Escalate issues to Sr. Manager in timely manner.

What you bring
- Must have Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Engineering or other technical fields.
- Up to 2 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality or Engineering experience, prior Co-op experience considered.
- Up to 2 year of experience working directly for Automotive OEM or supplier Co-op experience considered.
- Experience and knowledge of investigating technical issues and creating effecting solutions.
- Experience and knowledge of general vehicle structures, unit assembly, such as Motor, Suspension, Transmission, Battery Electric Vehicle Pack, or Part Design.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Proficient communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, up to 30% of the time during peak project periods.
- Willingness to work overtime up to 30% of the time including weekends during peak project periods to include late evening and early morning meeting calls with Japan.
- This position requires an onsite presence. The required working schedule is Monday through Thursday with option of remote Fridays when there are no builds in progress and contingent on the needs of the business.
Added bonus if you have
- 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality or Engineering experience.
- Experience using 3D CAD (Catia).
- Experience with vehicle assembly tooling/jigs.
- Experience with assembly process planning.
- Knowledge of functional vehicle electrical systems including requirements for vehicle initialization/function checks.
- Experience with GD&T.
