The Job:

We are hiring for an exciting new role; Market Director - Germany, who will guide the delivery of our German events and contribute to the strategic leadership of the German market. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop the potential of our German events, driving greater influence and brand awareness in the market. Key objectives include ensuring a seamless operation of all German events, maximizing customer satisfaction, market growth and enhancing revenue streams across operations, partnerships & commercial opportunities.

The role will oversee several departments, having overall control for Event Operations and leading on strategic decisions in Partnerships and Marketing.

The Work:

Event Operations

  • Management of the German Operations Team
  • Development of all operational plans and tactical delivery strategies
  • Lead on strategy for market growth
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of additional event revenue opportunities within the local market
  • Responsible for event level P&L
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with venue, authorities, local communities and other key stakeholders
  • On-site Senior Leader and face of Tough Mudder to all third party stakeholders and customers
  • Event Direct live events

Marketing
  • Key advocate and spokesperson for the German business - in market and globally
  • Work closely with International Marketing Department to drive business performance and growth of the brand in Germany
  • Inform mid/long term brand challenges and opportunities (key market trends, competitive landscape, etc.) for Germany
  • Review and sign-off on key brand usage by local marketing partners, brand sponsors, event licensees and other stakeholders
  • Development of localized marketing outreach and public relations
  • Optimise our B2B and corporate sales efforts, identifying and growing new growth avenues including corporate outreach strategies and activations

Commercial
  • Work closely with the Partnership team and develop market specific strategies and prioritization to drive sales and improve the Sponsor portfolio
  • Support the German Commercial Associate to develop partnership rights that are innovative and deliverable
  • Support contract negotiations with new and existing partners
  • Drive renewal negotiations and develop new business initiatives to up-sell to existing partners
  • Relationship management of existing and potential partners

The Traits:
  • Demonstrable project management and planning skills, ideally in the sports events industry
  • Proven experience as within a leadership position
  • Strong understanding of market changes and corporate finances
  • Creative problem-solver and conflict manager
  • Comfortable dealing with strategic and quantitative analysis
  • Experienced budget manager
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the drive to initiative projects and implement changes
  • Focused on meeting objectives and delivering results
  • Proven ability to maintain calm and clear decision making in high pressure situations
  • Willing to be based in London and travel 30-40% of the time. Possibility of working remotely in Germany with regular meetings in London

The Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Fluency in German and English in a business environment is essential
  • 5+ years of experience in live events operations in a leadership role
  • Marketing experience required
  • H&S qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH) beneficial
  • Valid driver’s license required
