Shipping Clerk - Atlanta Distribution Center

Overview

With the support and guidance of the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping Clerk is responsible for communicating and preparing outbound documentation once a trailer has been loaded and readied for movement onward to the customer.  They will also communicate with the transportation department around any trailer needs or special pickups.

 

 

Responsibilities

Primary Job Duties

  • Ensures the accuracy of trailers being shipped and integrity therein
  • Coordinates with transportation and carriers to organize outbound shipments and their pickup
  • Prepares outbound paperwork prior to pick-up
  • Coordinates with the Supervisor and the Shipping Lead to ensure that all loaded product is systemically shipped
  • Maintains a shipping log to include dates and destinations of loaded trailers
  • Reports any unsafe condition of which they are aware in the distribution center and the yard
  • The Shipping Clerk is not limited to clerk functions and may be asked to do other job-functions in the distribution center
  • Consistent follow up on any discrepancies, missed pick-ups
  • In this role the shipping clerk will need to constantly communicate with the shipping supervisor and the transportation team

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training
  • Experience or understanding that they will be trained on warehouse material handling equipment
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write clearly in basic English
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including word-processing, spreadsheets, database software programs, and e-mail
  • WMS knowledge preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships within the distribution center
  • Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • The writing of simple reports and correspondence
  • Mathematical Computational skills are required to understand daily workload and trailer needs
  • A high attention to detail and the ability work proactively by understanding trailer needs before they are realized
  • The provision of good customer service internally and externally
  • Strong communication skills as they will be a liaison from Tory Burch to the transportation companies picking up shipments from the distribution center
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed including days regularly scheduled off, such as weekends and holidays
