Project Manager

Accountabilities

  • Planning & execution
  • Create and execute project plans
  • Revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Manage day-to-day progress of project(s) and scope
  • Consistently apply the TomTom project methodology
  • Minimizes risk on project and employ the standard TomTom risk management approach
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Maintain, monitor and communicate schedules, capacity (hours) and other key figures, to stakeholders and the project team
  • Identify resources needed and organizes team to meet project responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate regular project team and stakeholder status meetings
  • Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations in review and planning sessions
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion

  • Consistently acknowledge and appreciate each team member's contributions
  • Motivate team to work together in the most efficient manner
  • Keep track of lessons learned and share those lessons with team members
  • Act as topic expert depending on individual domain(s) of expertise

  • Act as a topic product owner triggering process and other improvements across the organization
  • Key figures: Actively manage the departmental key figure framework and the assigned key figures

Knowledge, skills and competencies

  • Knowledge and experience
  • College/Bachelor or Master degree preferably in business or business-related field (IT or geographical) or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of maps technical processes and associated tools, software and specifications.
  • More than 3 years' work experience in business related field, supplier/customer management preferred
  • Skills
  • English and Japanese
  • Knowledge of project management techniques like PMI or Agile
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical, planning, facilitation, administrative, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to exchange technical and statistical information using effective verbal and written communication skills
  • This job requires effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others (multicultural)
  • Advanced knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to develop thorough understanding of TomTom's core databases, data interdependencies, technical and business processes
  • Solid decision-making skills; ability to work independently as well as contribute to the departmental team

Differentiating factors

  • Complexity of the job: The project manager has by nature a wide range of responsibilities. This can vary between a wide range of topics/output requirements to be handled over a limited geography to a limited range of topics/output requirements to be handled over a wide range of geographies. Global processes do exist for the majority of the activities to be executed, but always a big dose of common sense is required to make sure the projects are realized successfully. Project Manager will have gradually more challenging complex projects to deal with.

  • Scope of the job: Focus can be departmental, sub-regional, regional, global, across various product units and even supplier/customer facing
