As a member of the Technology team, you'll make this possible by helping build all customer-facing and back-office systems for the business. As a UI engineer, you'll have the opportunity to design and build a variety of client-side applications - everything ranging from customer-facing apps for the website and smart home, to internal apps within our proprietary data analytics platform and internal support systems. As one of the first engineers on the team, you'll have the opportunity to guide technical direction and culture, grow the team, and see your contributions make an immediate impact.

Overall, we're a small team (more of a startup than a telco team), but growing rapidly and frequently punch above our weight. We operate within a (mostly) flat org so your growth opportunities are entirely up to you - we'll be there to support you along the way.


Responsibilities
You will...

  • Write lots of code. And lots of tests to accompany them.
  • Build and design frontends for a variety of personas and use cases, both customer-facing and internal.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of developers, data scientists, UX/UI designers, sales, and support analysts daily.
  • Flesh out the product backlog and define tasks.
  • Graciously support technical and non-technical end-users with any issues they run into.



Qualifications
You may be a fit if you...
  • Are well-versed in Typescript/Javascript and web technologies, and have deployed Angular 2+ or React in production.
  • Have a deep understanding of geospatial/visualization libraries such as MapboxGL, DeckGL, TurfJS, d3, and/or have experience rendering large geospatial datasets in the browser.
  • Have a passion for building user interfaces that augment users' ability to work with data and an understanding of how technical decisions impact the people who will use what you're building.
  • Believe workarounds for users are hacks and should be fixed properly.
  • Have experience identifying performance bottlenecks and security issues.
  • Understand how and when to test frontend applications.
  • Are allergic to premature abstractions and over-designed systems.
  • Can work autonomously when needed without excessive supervision.
