T-Mobile USA is a leading provider of digital GSM/GPRS, UMTS, and LTE wireless voice and data technology standards. Senior Engineers, Radio Frequency located in Irvine, CA will serve as lead technical resources for the engineering design and system performance of the GSM and UMTS Radio Network, develop processes and strategic approaches to problem solving, and develop and implement a training curriculum.
Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Mentor Radio Frequency (RF) and Associate RF Engineers for technical growth, serve as the lead resource for advanced monitoring and review of radio network Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and devise inter- and intra-team processes for system performance.
Serve as a KPI subject matter expert in order to improve network performance; and supervise, monitor, and analyze statistical network performance data.
Collect, process, and review drive test data; work with the operations team to troubleshoot complex site network problems, and review data to determine the cause of faulty equipment.
Address customer and employee complaints received through Information Analyzer and *811 (#fix) applications, work with RF Engineers to evaluate and resolve complex issues, and update databases with resolution or actions taken.
Serve as a lead resource for coverage, capacity, and performance activities, defining and developing internal process used for radio network design.
Provide capacity planning and growth strategies and participate with federal, state, and local jurisdictions to ensure regulatory and zoning compliance.
Lead the development, testing, and validation of RF feature plan proposals, define implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies, and lead the team in the application of RF principles for performance activities.
Serve as the lead subject matter expert on GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS and emerging technology theory, mentor engineering and technical staff, provide engineering support to Sales/Customers, and advise management on tactical and strategic issues.
Serve as the lead developer and resource for market, regional, and national planning and performance tools.
Please note that the position of Senior Engineer, Radio Frequency does not have direct reports. In addition, note that although the Senior Engineer, Radio Frequency does lead various projects where employees with the title of Junior Engineer are part of a project team, the Senior Engineer, Radio Frequency role is nevertheless considered to be an individual contributor role.
(1) Utilizing RF propagation principles, cellular theory, RF engineering tools, and antenna theory.
(2) Utilizing 3G/LTE RAN structure and radio network performance KPIs (Accessibility, Retainability, Usage, and Mobility), performing L3 analysis, and SON related features and functionality.
(3) Utilizing Ericsson platforms, including 2G, 3G and LTE OSS, as well as Ericsson AMOS commands.
(4) Managing VoLTE Optimization/Performance, including the implementation of SIP messaging utilizing Ericsson's advanced features and Special Event management skills.
(5) Creating RAN report ICSU/GPEH/ UEH/UETR/CTR Trace analysis of networks, encompassing features from multiple Ericsson releases.
(6) Utilizing different vendors' Small cells and NOKIA / ALU product line and inter-operability.
(7) Utilizing MapInfo, Actix, and Asset to implement Ericsson EDOS tools; utilizing Excel macros and programming in SQL.
Experience and education requirements:
PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience.
ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.
