Sr Engineer, Systems Architecture, Real Time Subscriber Engineer

Job Description:

This is a Senior Engineer role on the Real Time Subscriber Databases (RTSD) Team in our Network Technology Org. The position will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for multiple network Applications which the RTSD Team is responsible for. The RTSD team drives the design and implementation of systems and services providing real-time consumer data to all internal teams.

Roles and Responsibilities include interfacing with multiple vendors, internal users and T-Mobile Teams on a daily basis. Research and provide Engineering design and architecture requirements for feature requests and application enhancements. Create product documentation, network designs, support capacity planning and drive product roadmaps. Document and test all new hardware and software upgrades prior to live network rollout. Provide Tier4 support for the applications as necessary.


  • As SME, consistently demonstrate the ability to define T-Mobile specific architecture requirements and effectively work with other Departments, Users and Vendors on designing, testing, implementing and supporting these requirements for existing and new Applications.
  • Coach other team members on architecture and technology developments, issues, and opportunities.
  • Create and maintain application documentation, network designs and capacity plans.
  • Utilize existing and develop enhanced means to measure and demonstrate application data, statistics and performance.
  • Use skills to continually evolve and enhance applications and processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate hands on, process driven, team based work methodology.
  • Understand high-level call flows related to 3GPP HLR/HSS/EIR/IMS a plus.
  • General understanding of standards (3GPP and IEFT), any expertise is a plus.
  • Provide technical comments and requests for improvements related to vendor planned delivery of Software and Hardware. Fully understand the network-wide implications and impacts of new or enhanced functionalities.
  • Based on requirements and an E2E view devise validation strategy and work with Validation and Operations teams until completion.
  • Research, articulate and follow up with requirements until completion.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess excellent written and oral skills.


Minimum Required

  • BSc or BSEE, MS preferred
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in Networking/Wireless Telecom Industry with an emphasis on network Application Server architecture, design and troubleshooting.
  • Technical expertise in the following: Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Diameter, Radius, SS7, Relational Databases, Unix, TCP/IP, HTTP, XML, SOAP, GSM, IMS, LTE, SQL and Shell Scripts.
  • Working experience with scripting languages such as PERL and PHP.
  • Experience of Application Design and an appreciation of the creative process, perhaps via software engineering or product design, and possibly within the Vendor community.
  • Experience in the RFI/RFP process.
  • Experience in understanding and interpreting technical standards (e.g. 3GPP, OMA, IETF, and ITU) to drive development and vendor interworking.
  • Experience in communicating complex technical ideas and arguments in writing, in presentations and in face to face meetings.
