Description:
The Sr. Engineer, Systems Architecture (Core Network Planning) will be responsible for the strategic End-to-End (E2E) planning, dimensioning, and forecasting of the network for T-Mobile USA focusing on Core Systems and providing quarterly and annual capacity plans and master budget forecasts. This position will also build and communicate a strategic vision to influence business decisions and balance the best of the costs against Network & Services evolution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build the strategic vision for the network, services, and platform evolution through the creation of NCP (National Capacity Plan) and communicate it to Finance, Contract, and National/Regional Engineering teams.
  • Work with FSC teams and Regions to design and develop dimensioning and planning rules and algorithms. Provide capacity plans and reports for all nodes and interfaces in the T-Mobile network, and ensure that new services come with associated planning and dimensioning rules.
  • Evaluate and assess the network impact including cost for any network change and introduction of new service or platform into the network.
  • Identify the capacity bottlenecks for the Core network elements and interfaces (Packet Core, IMS, Subscriber database, Messaging, IN). Work with design, QA team and vendors to test the bottlenecks based on T-Mobile's unique traffic models.
  • Communicate network insights and strategic vision to influence business decisions and to adapt marketing strategy of sales, new services, or new plans.
  • Design and develop the planning and analysis toolsets.
  • Apply statistical and mathematical skills to identify traffic trends and analyze the drivers.
  • Drive Vendor management by defining consistent feature & capacity specifications requests and validation to ensure best in class solutions across all vendors.

Minimum Required
  • 5+ Years Technical engineering experience
  • Understanding of applicable Wireless industry standards. E.g. 3GPP, ITUT, ANSI, etc.
  • Robust knowledge of 3G/4G/5G technologies, particularly Wireless Core Networks (IP Networks is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of IMS Core Systems & Applications, VOLTE & RCS.
  • Strong knowledge of Packet Core Systems.
  • Knowledge of SDN/NFV and stack implementation alternatives.
  • Software Architecture proficiency including Cloud Computing is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server and Business Intelligence platforms
  • Knowledge of Big Data Processing and Data Analytics experience is a plus (Knowledge of Tableau is a definite plus)
  • Strong technical writing & presentation skills to articulate technical strategies to Leadership team.
