Work as part of a team in support of operational and project related activities. Provide advanced technical and operational support to other departments and teams as required in support of business objectives.Minimum of 7+ years in a large SQL environment in progressively challenging and/or similar roles

Advanced knowledge of most SQL utilities such as BCP, DTS, etc.

Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and ability to write stored procedures, UDFs and triggers.

Advanced knowledge of debugging and performance tuning stored procedures, UDFs and triggers.

Advanced knowledge of index analysis.

Advanced knowledge of various monitoring and tuning tools such as Profiler, Precise, Spotlight

Advanced knowledge of advanced installation and configuration procedures.

Advanced knowledge of data normalization.

Proven competence with partitioning advanced queuing, cursors, etc.

Working knowledge of hardware, including RAID, multi-processor architecture, etc.

Working knowledge of VBScript and advanced DTS package design.

Working knowledge of networking and how it relates to SQL Server connectivity.

Working knowledge of at least one high level programming language (VB, C#, C++)

Ability to create tools from scratch needed for database administration.

Advanced knowledge of shell scripting (i.e. command line applications, batch files, etc.)

High School Diploma/GED

Computer Science/Technical equivalent experienceRequires competency in customer focus, change & innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building & influencing, talent management, results focus and inspirational leadership.

Responsible for recommending database solutions to recognized problems and for design and implementation of new SQL Server Instances. Also responsible for installation and configuration of backup / restore utilities. Develop & maintain disaster recovery policies and procedures. Evaluate database and software requirements and influence design decisions.

Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating documentation necessary to support the operations SQL Server DBAs. Provide full trending and capacity analysis of SQL Servers to ensure long term application viability, remaining ahead of the curve for our rapid growth rates.

Write and maintain scripts providing SQL Server maintenance to ensure consistent performance. Maintain solid working knowledge of functionality of existing platforms and future enhancements.

Coordinate with vendors to assure the continuing functionality of SQL Server as regards upgrades, versions, services packs, new releases.

Provide 24 × 7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members.

Provide advanced troubleshooting for applications and systems and advanced technical support for database related project activities.

Participate in design and code reviews. Configure and tune databases and operating system software to ensure optimum performance and resource utilization.
