Principal Engineer, Rating and Service Control Engineering

Job Description:

The position is in Rating and Service Control Engineering team in our Network Technology Organization. This group is at the heart of launching T-Mobileââ,¬â„¢s Uncarrier, MetroPCS, and MVNO plans on real-time rating / metering platforms and network service provisioning. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to leading cross functional teams towards shared goals, completing feasibility studies, design and optimize provisioning and real-time rating/metering network, and interacting with marketing teams, vendors, and other T-Mobile teams in shaping product requirements. Once the product scope is agreed, the engineer is expected to own the implementation, right from design all the way through the rollout. Being a principal design engineer, the candidate is expected to use their razor sharp analytical and communication skills to find the best possible solution and sell the solution when and where required. He/she should be able to consistently identify and implement efficiency through design revision, software automation, process optimization and partnership with other T-Mobile teams to identify architecture and solution improvements. Ability to draft, review and approve design documents, and technical specifications is a must.


Responsibilities:

  • Effectively work with other departments and vendors in shaping, designing, testing, and implementing rating, metering and provisioning solutions for network services
  • Technically lead small to mid-size teams and successfully deliver on shared goal
  • Be proficient in sharing complex technical material and project progress with senior management
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in rating/metering/network provisioning solution space and act as point of contact towards internal customers
  • Think big, identify opportunities, sell ideas with partner teams, and influence implementation strategies
  • Drive solution design, implementation, and timeline for special projects leading multiple technical streams across various internal and external teams
  • Research and provide input to feature requests and platform enhancements
  • Create network design and successfully document it
  • Participate and contribute in technical reviews
  • Enhance, simplify, and optimize existing applications and processes
  • Innovate in mobile technology space
  • Connect to various industry forums to stay up-to-date with technology and market dynamics to drive T-Mobile applications evolution and influence vendors roadmap or 3GPP standardization to fulfill T-Mobile technology goals
  • Follow-up on Change Requests (CRs) with vendors


Qualifications:

  • In-depth hands-on experience with UMTS, LTE, VoLTE, IMS, IoT & 5G technologies
  • Extensive experience in E2E complex multivendor digital transformation solutions, enterprise architecture and modernization
  • Experience successfully designing, implementing and dimensioning rating / Metering / Mediation solutions
  • Experience designing applications using one or several of the following protocols: CAPv2, CAPv3, SIP, Diameter (Ro, Gy, Sy, Rf), LDAP, SBI, and/or Web Service protocols
  • Experience designing and implementing applications as a service over cloud / virtualization technologies (NFV)
  • Hands-on experience with IP technologies and protocols
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills a must
  • Deep experience designing and implementing solutions for network service provisioning to (but not limited) HSS, HLR, Messaging platforms (SMSC, MMSC & VMS), authentication platforms and charging systems
  • Software development experience to drive efficiency through use of best practices and automation
  • Experience evaluating responses from vendors and preparing summary report with recommendations to management
  • Ability to understand and reference IETF, 3GPP, ITU, ANSI standards when needed
  • Experience with database model (Casandra database is a plus)
  • Experience working in cross functional teams as a team member or team lead
  • Experience leading multivendor system & solution integration, implementation and end to end verification
  • Ability to occasionally perform duties off-hours and weekends
  • Self-starter and highly motivated individual to go beyond routine duties
  • Ability to think outside of the box
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience with software development process following DevOps model

Education
  • M.S or B.S degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Information Systems
  • Minimum of 15 years of design/testing experience in wireless industry
  • 3rd party certifications / deep knowledge on Ericsson charging, mediation and provisioning systems is a plus
