Corporate Counsel

This professional will have responsibility for a broad range of analytical work associated with patents across both litigation and prosecution. This position will support both the patent litigation team and the IP prosecution team. The primary tasks will be initial analysis of patents asserted against the company with a focus on assessing the merits of the claims, as well as identifying inventions that may be patentable and assisting with strategic projects related to the company's patent portfolio.

Specifically, this professional will assist the larger litigation team across T-Mobile's patent litigation docket. This will include the following: review and preliminary analysis for patents filed in lawsuits and pre-litigation notice letters; initial prior art searches for patent litigation matters; create and maintain invalidity and non-infringement charts, at times in collaboration with outside counsel or outside search firms; work closely with outside counsel firms, as appropriate, to identify alternative configurations for the accused equipment, and work with invalidity and non-infringement experts; support supplier indemnification negotiations and overall indemnity recovery.

In addition, this professional will work with engineers to identify patentable IPR, support monetization and infringement analysis, and perform a limited number of patent prosecutions (initial interviews, drafting, filing, and prosecution).

Requirements include a law degree, as well as membership in the patent bar, and at least 5-7 years of relevant experience, including experience reviewing and analyzing patents for relevant attributes that go to the relative strength or weakness of the IPR. In addition, outstanding business judgment, strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, strong customer-oriented interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate well with others, and a proactive approach to solving problems are required.
Must be at least 18 years of age with degrees in Engineering and Juris Doctorate, with authorization for residency and practice in the US with Washington State preferred. Must be able to pass background check.
