POSITION SUMMARY:
The 10-week summer internship program is designed to challenge students by providing opportunities to provide hand-on experiences, skills training and valuable professional networking to assist students with identifying and building on their career interests. This role gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the Nuveen businesses.
The program includes a robust training and onboarding program followed by our ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and cohort engagement activities, as well as direct access to executive and senior leadership, mentors and previous interns.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Real Estate Intern
Nuveen Real Estate is one of the largest real estate investment managers in the world with $125 billion of assets under management. Managing a suite of funds and mandates, across both public and private investments, and spanning both debt and equity across diverse geographies and investment styles, we provide access to every aspect of real estate investing.
During a 10 week summer internship, you will work with our real estate investment management teams across Portfolio Management, Research, Asset Management, and Transactions. The intent of the internship is to provide a robust, cross-functional experience with our real estate platform to ensure a valuable, educational and mutually beneficial internship.
- Perform underwriting and market research of potential acquisitions targets using Argus and Excel
- Contribute to production of investment memorandums
- Support transactions officers in the due diligence and closing of acquisitions and dispositions
- Maintain and source information for the team’s acquisitions pipeline
- Keep Research Team up to date with local market trends and topics – ensure relevant data bases are created and maintained
- Participate in industry events
- Research and analysis of industry trends, competitors and product characteristics to support product development activities
- Preparation of detailed product presentations, proposals and recommendations
- Responding to inquiries from external business partners, as well as business partners across the organization
- Ensure that the investment stories for assigned products are presented consistently and that the products are properly positioned across all customer touch points
- Screen, evaluate, and help execute on new product, new business, M&A and partnership opportunities that align with the overall NRE strategy
- Participate and contribute to pipeline discussions and teleconferences as required
- Develop and manage detailed project plans in support of product development and product enhancement initiatives

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Full-time student, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree
- Graduation date between Winter 2022 and Spring 2024
DESIRED SKILLS (Preferred not required):
- Minimum Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in related fields including Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Communications, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics or similar degree programs
- Internship experience is a plus
- Excellent communication, presentation, problem solving/analytical skills
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and deliver on commitments
- Previous internship or work experience a plus
- Demonstrated interest within the investment management industry is preferred
- Independent and original thinker
- Self-discipline and self-motivation
- Strong level of integrity with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Minimum of 2 years of working knowledge or academic experience in using Microsoft Office products or similar products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Potential Salary: $20.00 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
