Position: Windows and Virtualisation Engineer

Location: Nottingham

Role Summary:

A motivated and self-sufficient individual is required to join the Infrastructure group which looks after Thomson Reuters' financial markets transactions products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our existing virtual infrastructure as well as some project work supporting new deployments. A hands-on experience of VMware technologies, specifically VCD and Vsphere 5 is essential for the role, as is Application support including, IIS, AV and OS Patch management, MS SQL, MS Cluster. Hands on experience of Other Operating Systems would also be beneficial, as would a working knowledge of HP hardware and IP networking.

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Working within the Infrastructure team based in the Nottingham Development datacentre Monday to Friday. Main tasks include deployment, configuration, management and support of VMware VCD and Vsphere environments running Windows server, Windows desktop OS's. Any additional awareness of other OS platforms would be a bonus. Other responsibilities are to provide technical advice into other team members, business/project teams and write technical documentation where required.

Additional Information:

The nature of this role deems it necessary to occasionally perform work outside of normal business hours (on average 1 weekend a month, plus some weekday work)

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience of Windows Server installation and support
  • VCD administration/provisioning
  • Powershell scripting
  • DevOps

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Basic admin skills in Unix, Linux, Windows Server
  • VMWare configuration. VMWare VRA
  • VMWare/OS platforms support, Netapp Storage, knwledge of HP ProLiant Server series, Windows Powershell, Batch, Python, Puppet, Ansible, Clobber
