We are recruiting a talented, dynamic Sports Producer based in our international video production hub in Gdynia, Poland.

Television Sports Producer

You and your team:

You will join a team of six news and social media TV producers working alongside 90 photo and text colleagues at the Gdynia Editorial Team. In your work you will report to the head TV operations in Gdynia but will work under the direction of the Sports Desk in London. You will develop knowledge of the sports industry, current affairs, journalism and video production working in a highly international environment with members of staff representing some 20 different nationalities.

Why is this job important?

The successful candidate will work as part of a growing international team processing video news and sports reports for distribution to Reuters' global subscriber base of more than 1,000 television channels around the world and hundreds of online portals.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Editing highlights from a variety of sporting events, producing high quality agency and online sports news stories
  • Writing flawless shot lists and scripts in a timely manner
  • Handling several stories simultaneously, working accurately under pressure
  • Working closely with the Television Sports desk in London, communicating clearly with other team members
  • Generating story ideas and thinking creatively about sourcing pictures, including from social media

What do you need to bring?

  • Experience in video journalism
  • Excellent sports knowledge. A track record of covering sports events or previous experience working as a sports producer
  • Written English to a fluent standard, good news writing style
  • Strong story-telling and video editing skills. Experience with video editing on Avid would be a clear advantage. However, as full training will be given, a willingness to learn quickly is at least as important
  • Ability to deal with client requests via email and telephone and respond confidently
  • Good news judgment
  • Understanding of the sports industry and sports rights would be an advantage
  • Ability to work under pressure and at speed on breaking stories
  • Flexibility, willingness to work late/night hours and some weekends
  • Fluency in one of the major languages would be an advantage
  • Education to first degree level
