Technical Operations Controller

Role Purpose:

Sets up, coordinates and monitors the operation of electronic computer equipment.

May perform troubleshooting actions when necessary.

Technicians/Analysts support Site Operations with the successful installation and implementation of product systems, networks and M&E services in Thomson Reuters Datacenters and provide second level engineering support for those installations as and when required.

Responsibilities:

Provides a growing level of technical assistance & support.

Monitors and manages systems and network infrastructure within the Data Center or a Service Desk. Depending on location and size of Data Center, is also responsible for the remote monitoring and managing of other subordinate Data Centers during its unmanned hours.

May produce, contribute to and maintain documentation, as well as, assist in the delivery of appropriate documentation.

Applies technical policies and standards to the systems supported.

Provides input to records, quality systems and management reports as required.

Documents activity and reports potential problems according to established procedures

Ensures production schedules are consistently and accurately maintained.

May provide work direction for computer operators

Detects errors and takes action according to documented procedures

Contributes to the reduction in volume of incidents.

Contributes to proactive problem management.

May assist in the production of detailed implementation/project plans across multiple work streams.

Follows and embraces Project and Implementation processes.

Uses departmental change management procedures in defining, planning and implementing change in such a way that service disruption is minimized, and adherence to Service Level Agreements is ensured.

Communicates risks and issues, including following appropriate escalation procedures.

Cooperates in coordinated activities between different external groups where required in order to ensure full support and information is provided.

Applies technical policies and standards to the systems supported.

Provides input to records, quality systems and management reports as required.
