The Enterprise Center of Excellence technology group provides development and enhancement of core features on a global online platform for web applications used by professionals around the world, some with country-specific customizations. We collaborate with key global commercial and technical groups to define, design, develop and implement a feature for shared use.

We are a fun, high-energy organization seeking results-driven, team-oriented, self-motivated professionals who combine technical experience with business acumen and effective communication skills for the position of Lead Software Engineer. In this challenging role, you will be part of an agile development team using current technologies like Java, Spring Boot, AWS services, and REST-based web services for developing core features on enterprise cloud platforms, including Akkadia. Akkadia is a cloud-based strategic platform that provides capabilities via a set of standardized web services making the platform product-neutral to meet the demands of our changing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the business and other technologists to determine the technical design for feature requirements on a global platform
  • Collaborate with architects and technologists on design decisions and direction for global platform requirements
  • Develop new features for applications and collaborate with business unit and other developers on potential solutions
  • Organize and prioritize group tasks for key project initiatives, architecture investments, and support
  • Recognize and communicate opportunities to add value through the application of new technologies
  • Analyze, design, implement and test new features using the following technologies: Java, AWS, SQL, Spring
  • Mentor software engineers by providing technical knowledge and leadership on design and development best practices
  • Work on multiple projects and manage time effectively
  • Gather requirements, design, code, test and implement according to design specifications
  • Advocate and be spokesperson for Agile development best practices and proactively offer improvements to the agile development process on a routine basis
  • Champion test driven development and other initiatives to build in quality to development deliverables
  • Connect impacts of development decisions to strategic business goals and quality
  • Produce and maintain detailed technical and business documentation for platform features, assigned tasks and projects
  • Present technical concepts and proposals to a wide variety of global audiences including development teams, business partners and senior management
  • Consult with project lead on identification of problems and suggest solutions for the resolution of coding issues
  • Seek out new technologies and ideas to add value to our products
  • Work with leaders to execute projects to successful delivery
  • Re-engineer current systems to allow for flexibility, stability, and scalability while preserving existing functionality
  • Knowledge of cloud architectures including microservices, CI/CD, load balancing, session/state management, queuing, caching, performance analysis desirable
  • Experience troubleshooting application production issues
  • Assist developers around the world in implementation of platform feature offerings
  • Learn quickly and independently, stay on top of emerging technologies, applying learnings to solutions
  • Produce and maintain detailed technical and business documentation for platform features, assigned tasks and projects
  • Leverage OO designs and apply working knowledge of design patterns, data and business modules
  • Collaborate with software engineers on design decisions and direction for application requirements
  • Business is global attitude, experience in working effectively with virtual teams preferred
  • Proven track record of being able to solve complex problems independently and to seek out and generate innovative solutions

Qualifications

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelors Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related software technology field, or demonstrated job experience equating to a Bachelors Degree
  • 7 years of software development experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the following technologies to research, evaluate, develop and test using
  • Java J2EE or based application development
  • IDE & Enterprise Source Code Control tools (e.g. Eclipse, GIT, & JIRA)
  • Relational database (e.g. PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora)
