Sr Network Engineer

The Engineer's role is to provide high quality design and implementation services to all areas in Thomson Reuters data centers, by ensuring that all networking infrastructure satisfies the requirements of given application environment and conforms to all applicable standards. This will involve working on project tasks throughout the Thomson Reuters datacenter networks per approved change window and architectural guidelines.

The engineer will work on various network hardware/software but biased towards Cisco Routers, Switches and Cisco/F5 Load balancers and Cisco/Checkpoint/Palo-Alto firewalls, including both configuration design & implementation on customer-facing devices.

The engineer is required to update/maintain all documentation requested by management and will be tasked with improving such documentation as required. This is a global role and the engineer will be required to produce documentation for all TR sites.

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities.

Produce detailed design documentation based on architectural standards. This will include physical and logical designs and configurations and implementation of these configurations.

Work with architectural and design groups to ensure accuracy of designs and standards compliance.

Work with project management teams to ensure that project deliverables are understood and timescales are committed to and met.

Responsible for the technical review / approval of network level changes and implementation of the most complex changes.

Work with other technical groups to help delivery of business critical projects.

Maintain sufficient familiarity with business / application / systems requirements.

Provide project implementation support during business and occasionally off business hours.

Create and update network infrastructure documentation.

Provide input to the manager of Provisioning teams to define / refine group practices to meet team's objectives

Required Skills and Experience:

5 years or above experience as a Network Engineer

Have senior/expert knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, load balancing and security concepts; Dynamic routing concepts, VRF concepts, IP/ARP/MAC/Spanning-tree issues and configurations, troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity for servers and other devices, troubleshooting Cisco access-list, NAT issues.

Knowledge of Cisco Nexus is an advantage.

Knowledge of data Centre L2/L3 principals and devices including Cisco CSS/ACE/F5 load balancers.

Knowledge of Security principles and familiarity with Checkpoint/Cisco/Palo-Alto firewalls.

Have thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, flags and be able to troubleshoot connectivity issues using Wireshark/Tcpdump/snoop.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Familiarity with ITIL processes, especially change management module.

Certifications (If any):

Minimum of Cisco CCNP & Checkpoint CCSA qualification with CCDA, CCDP preferred.
