Software Development Manager, Lynx Core Services, News Technology: The Lynx Core Services are a set of software services that form the foundation for the Reuters editorial technology. The services provide core functions including editorial user management, global content management and workflow support, messaging, and news distribution capabilities. This suite of services are fully resilient and highly available with over 99.99% of availability using deployments across regional data centers.

As leader of Lynx Core Services, you will help create a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on improving the efficiency of software delivery and driving innovation while balancing the need to maintain high levels of quality and service. You will lead a global team of software developers, and will work closely with product and project management staff to estimate, plan, and execute on Agile delivery of enhancements to existing services and design and development of new services and capabilities to serve editorial technology platforms.

Education: Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent

Requirements:

  • 7 yrs in Software Development, 2 yrs leading development teams
  • Proficient skills in objected oriented programming and languages (C#, Java, C )
  • Experience with service-oriented and/or microservices architecture
  • Experience designing and supporting systems for scalability, high availability and resiliency
  • Solid experience with Agile development and delivery – Scrum, Lean, XP, Kanban methodologies.
  • Hands on DevOps experience – continuous integration, automated deployment, release mgmt. Git, Jenkins, Docker, Maven
  • Experience partnering with internal business owners
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability and passion to learn new technologies quickly
  • Ability to lead or conduct technology evaluations against specific objectives
  • Experience working with global teams

Desired:

  • Project based experience in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, jQuery etc)
  • Experience with some of the following technologies:
  • Big data (Hadoop ecosystem - HDFS/Hive/HBase/Scala/Spark/Kafka)
  • Experience with AWS and related technologies a big plus
