Position Title: Senior Strategy Analyst

Position Type: Permanent

Role Purpose/ Summary:

Supports the Market Development & Strategy team to grow the UKI Legal business through robust research and analysis and high-quality output

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Structures and leads work-streams (small projects or parts of medium projects) to:
  • Develop business unit, product and customer growth strategies
  • Leads M&A pipeline development
  • Supports elements of strategy planning process
  • Leads projects to solve key operational issues e.g. pricing, GTM optimisation as required
  • Responsible for planning and executing primary and secondary research and analysis to support strategic projects and tactical initiatives; clearly distils key findings and implications
  • Plays a major role in the creation of high-quality business cases, board-papers, strategy presentations and other outputs (though leaderships)
  • Builds and maintain overall market and customer-segment specific fact-bases, comprising market, customer, competitor and internal performance insight
  • Supports Segment Directors in gathering and synthesising customer insight and producing clear outputs to help communicate this internally and externally
  • Independently interacts and collaborates with mid and senior-level stakeholders
  • Supports the build of a strong MD&S team and culture
  • Becomes expert on broad area
  • May manage virtual teams or junior staff on work-stream

Key Relationships:

  • Reports into Strategy Director
  • Receives general instruction on day-to-day work, specific instructions on new assignments and BAU tasks

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Structured thinker and strong problem solver
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proficient in planning and conducting primary research, including interview programmes and surveys, and secondary desk research
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with others at all levels of the business
  • Strong individual work planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking environment, meet deadlines, and work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
  • Resourceful, with ability to find solutions where they are not obvious
  • Business acumen
  • Strong MS Excel and Powerpoint skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters products and services
  • Experience working in a global matrix environment


  • University degree or equivalent
  • Extensive professional experience in strategy, corporate finance or management consulting
  • Strategy consulting experience preferred
  • Experience of start-up environment viewed favourably
