AboutThis Position

Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting (TRTA) is seekinga Senior Software Engineer to join our Checkpoint technology team. Checkpointis the market-leading online tax and accounting research product withauthoritative and nationally respected content and productivity tools. As thesuccessful candidate, you will be responsible for designing and implementingproduct enhancements, redesign of existing product functions, troubleshootingand resolving product defects, unit and integration testing. You will also bepart of new technology and process evaluations. Active interaction withinternal customers, other developers, Quality Assurance, Business SystemAnalysts, and Customer Support counterparts is an integral part of the role

KeyResponsibilities & Technologies

Collaboration: Partner with team to create a greaterquality of development in the organization and promote best practices. Participatein project planning sessions to understand requirements, provide designoptions, and provide work breakdown estimates. Maintain thoughtful and collaborative relationshipswithin R&D and with cross-functional peers. Assist in Quality Assuranceprocesses and customer issue resolution. Thoughtfully works with developer partners sharetask responsibilities.

Autonomy: Work independently, with minimal technicaland management guidance. Takes proactive ownership to understand problems. Accountfor the quality and timeliness of own work.

Mentoring: Provide input into assessment andtraining/mentoring of junior team members.

Creative: Create and execute unit and integrationtests to ensure code meets requirements, maintain technical documentation and executeunit and integration tests

Qualifications, Knowledge, andSkills:

Develop: Develop program units with softwareengineering methodologies in Java/J2EE and user interface technologies like Javascript,HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, JSON, JSP, Angular JS, Google Web Toolkit, thus improvingthe quality of development in the organization and promote best practices.

Design:SOA, Web services, SOAP, and REST are highly desired

Maintenance: Unit testing, code management tools, anddesign tools. Write and modify software using industry and company bestpractices. Maintain and growapplications according to business and technology priorities.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, ComputerEngineering or equivalent

3-7 years related experience.
