Senior Digital Learning Experience Designer

Background

The Thomson Reuters Legal Training, Education and Development digital learning strategy includes (but not limited to) the design and development technology enabled:

  • Learning Programs
  • Micro learning Application
  • Evaluation
  • Virtual Classroom Instruction
  • Social Learning Environments

This strategy is based on new short projects, and pursuing new long term projects to enable scaling and extension of reach within the organization.

The central department Digital Learning team is responsible for providing Legal Sales Training, Education and Development (TED) department-level oversight and coordination in the use of digital learning. One of the initial key objectives for the team has been to establish an effective practice and processes for digital learning design and development throughout the department, by creating models, reviewing existing platforms, systems and process methodology with a view to creating a comprehensive environment from which to develop and deliver world class digital learning experiences.

The team's primary service areas are:

  • Delivery, maintenance and development of a digital learning environment and the integrated tools/services.
  • Engaging and, in conjunction with the IT team, supporting HR global learning team, global systems as part of Sales Enablement
  • Creation and maintenance of engaging, andragogically sound online, and resources and tools
  • Advocacy of digital learning tools and techniques to complement current training offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Use instructional design and learning experience design systematic processes including experiential learning, cognitive psychology, interaction design, user experience design, and design thinking to design, and develop learner experiences
  • Strong partnership and collaborations skills are essential in this role with internal stakeholders including external consultants, product development, e-commerce, content development and sales training to deliver learning programs design to drive business transformation and growth.

Design:

  • Graphic and software system design including:
  • As a leader in the Digital Learning team responsibilities include assessing, researching, designing, sourcing, managing, developing, implementing and evaluating training solutions.
  • Design and maintain templates and materials supporting new learning content and curriculum development.

  • Design interactive digital learning
  • Design interactive applications including mobile apps., social learning solutions just-in-time mini modules in learning management system or other systems (curriculum and non-curriculum)
  • Blended assessment and measurement components including quizzes, exams, pre/post test, behavioral based assessment in LMS or other systems

Develop:

  • Understanding and ability to navigate systems and infrastructures for learning and development
  • Develop, source and produce digital learning experiences based infusing instructional design principles that will providing desired go-to-market behaviors identified by Thomson Reuters Legal Sales organization.
  • Creates quizzes, exams, pre/post tests LMS or other systems, program tools for blended assessment (curriculum)
  • Creates job aids and just-in-time mini modules in LMS or other systems (curriculum and non-curriculum)
  • Maintain and operate various technologies used in the delivery of instructional and/or interactive programs and courses.
  • Follow standards and development process including testing and quality assurance

Support/Manage:

  • Manage a variety of learning projects (large and small in scope) and represent the training organization on corporate projects and initiatives. Project planning, project management and execution expectations of digital learning content.
  • Maintain and operate various technologies used in the delivery of instructional and/or interactive programs and courses.
  • Manage TED project requests as part of regular quality review within the Digital Learning and Curriculum Development team.
  • Research and initiate all corrections and improvements to existing course catalog
  • Research and resolve LMS functionality issues.
  • Collaborate with peers to determine and facilitate best practices.

Track:

  • Distill and disseminate information and reporting
  • Manage, track and configure multiple types of learning and development content for curriculums and programs

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 or more years of design, development and implementation of learning instruction; Knows and can apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of instructional design.
  • Must be a creative thinker with ability to bring innovative ideas to the team.
  • History of building performance support tools, games, and advanced digital interfaces.
  • Excellent understanding of adult learning
  • Expertise designing and developing online, digital, classroom learning, learning apps. and content using tools like:
  • HTML

  • Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite programs

  • Experience with agile design process.
  • Experience with rapid instructional design and delivery required.
  • Experience designing multi-media digital learning using audio, video, simulations and social media.
  • Strong Business Acumen required.

  • Must be self motivated and self directed; must be comfortable with prioritizing, establishing objectives and processes, and working to achieve them; must be a self learner.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with all departments and organizational levels.
  • Can learn and navigate quickly when faced with new, unfamiliar or ambiguous situations; can quickly grasp the underlying issue.
  • Knowledge of Sales and Legal industry/business helpful.
  • Excellent understanding of adult learning.
  • Excellent understanding of how web-based, media and mobile technologies can be used to enhance learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Experience in using and editing audio/video technologies.
  • Experience of supporting online learners and the operational delivery of online courses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships at all levels.
  • Good customer service skills - the ability to provide appropriate and timely advice in response to enquiries.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to both those with and without a technical background.
  • Ability to write reports and well-structured documents (including technical documents).
  • Good analytical skills with a structured and methodical approach.
  • A team player who can balance need, risk and pragmatism when developing solutions.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with difficult situations.
  • Ability to keep abreast of new techniques and practices and advise on potential commercial opportunities or benefits.
