We are looking for a Senior Digital Content Lead who can craft clear, consistent, succinct language for Thomson Reuters' external digital product discovery experiences based on sound content strategies and storytelling principles. The role will partner closely with content strategists, SEO managers, product marketers, digital producers, UX designers and researchers, leadership, accessibility specialists, developers, and more to create meaningful user-centered experiences.

About the role

As a Senior Digital Content Lead, you will:

  • Write powerful, empathetic, persuasive copy for public-facing digital product discovery and marketing environments, demonstrating a keen understanding of audience, industry, product portfolio, purpose, and corporate best practices
  • Drive and deliver end-to-end tactical content solutions for our digital product discovery experiences, focusing on powerful language that inspires users to take meaningful action
  • Collaborate closely with content strategists to tactically interpret and shape strategy implementation into cohesive and effective real-world messaging


  • Help analyze users' needs/problems and co-develop a content solution that accelerates users through a defined content journey
  • Execute work efficiently, effectively, and independently, addressing any issues that arise in a fast and considered manner
  • Be able to work proficiently in a sometimes-ambiguous space and use data/customer research and foundational digital content development principles to influence decisions and problem solve
  • Think critically-not just about the right words for an experience, but about the right experience for words
  • Demonstrate the strategic influence of words and visual language across digital, product marketing, development, design, and research teams


  • Help build processes, standards, metrics definition, and engagement protocols that facilitate top-value partnerships across digital, product, marketing, development, design, and research teams
  • Consult internal clients to understand client business goals, brand differentiators, and target audiences
  • Ensure that content projects meet established deliverable timeframes and quality expectations
  • Participate in content analysis and development efforts, such as:
  • Auditing product lines and/or digital experiences for areas of digital content opportunity


  • Shaping and evolving voice and tone elements for product discovery environments
  • Helping team members and internal clients align to processes around content development best practices
  • Discovery/sprint planning exercises
  • Prepare work for, and actively participate in, cross-content/cross-function training sessions
  • Be customer obsessed - advocate for customers with a sharp sense of empathy

About you

You're a fit for the role of Senior Digital Content Lead if you have the following basic qualifications:

  • A clear track record of success writing digital copy and crafting content in a deadline-heavy environment that rises above industry norms
  • Demonstrated detail-oriented excellence, able to ensure consistent, considered content outputs internally and for customers
  • Expert understanding of current digital content writing, strategy, design, and tactical deployment best practices
  • Deep user-focus and a record as an influencer within and across complex groups, if not large corporations and/or organizations
  • Experience evangelizing digital content writing/development within a large organization to build peer and leadership understanding of -- and emphasis on -- importance


  • Able to take initial direction, then execute and deliver usable and consumable deliverables for internal research, organization, planning, strategic efforts, etc. without oversight
  • Expert use of work management and workflow platforms, design/writing collaboration tools (high- and/or low-fidelity), Microsoft office applications, and document/chat/video collaboration tools
  • Expert understanding of an agile approach to creative outputs and how to collaborate with design, research, product, digital, and development partners
  • A keen understanding of and participation in developing and interpreting digital content KPIs/success metrics; exposure to means/methods of measuring user-centric digital content success
  • Understand the importance of primary and secondary customer research as well as both qualitative and quantitative inputs on approach to language, tone, and content; ability to define need, prepare for, and partner with research teams on content-related insights


  • Advanced familiarity with/ aligning to/ maintaining style guidelines, KMDs, writing guidelines, and/or brand voice and tone guides
  • Clearly and concisely present influential information to upper-level company leadership when necessary

Education and Experience

  • 10+ years progressive professional experience including 6-8 combined years of digital content design/digital writing/copywriting, including some for a complex software or technology product offering (cloud, app, or web)


  • Extensive experience working with designers, strategists, and developers within a UX, creative, digital, experiential, marketing, or similar setting
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to successfully target content to the desired medium
  • Familiarity with and demonstrated use of AP style / standard rules for grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Some familiarity with accessibility guidelines as they relate to digital content
  • Active experience working within agile management platforms such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Mingle, Jira, etc.


  • Familiarity with content gathering and management systems such as GatherContent and Adobe Experience Manager
  • Familiarity with methods of measuring digital content success qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Bachelor's degree in writing, marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
