Position Title: Team Lead and Quality Control

Position Type: Permanent

Role Purpose/ Summary:

The Marketing Data Operations department within Thomson Reuters UKI Legal Solutions Business is looking for a Quality Control Team Leader to supervise and quality control data projects in progress. You will be expected to take the lead in quality control reporting, and roll out any urgent projects/training as and when required. The Quality Control Team Lead will have an overview of all running projects in the Data Team and will be required to perform quality checks on a selection of projects in progression with researchers. This position will work closely with the Data Team Manager and the Data Researchers, to ensure all running projects have been produced to the highest quality and standard.

Management responsibility including dealing with recruitment, talent, compensation etc. In particular this role will further develop the team, through coaching and mentoring to help each of the Data Researchers achieve their full potential as well as ensuring momentum and focus at the highest levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Your primary responsibility will be to work alongside the Data Team Manager to get an overview of all running projects in the Data Team and to perform quality checks on a selection of projects that are either planned, in-progress or have been completed by a Data Researcher. You will be responsible for planning research projects with the Data Team Manager, and creating detailed project briefs. Each project brief will include details on what the researchers need to report back on a daily basis.
  • Reporting daily progress of the Data Researchers' projects to the Data Team Manager.
  • Manipulate large datasets in excel to prepare the research files for the data researchers
  • The point-of-contact for any questions within the team during the course of their projects
  • Responsible for managing PL data support inbox and allocating out adhoc queries as and when required.
  • Perform quality checks on adhoc data support queries from time to time
  • Sending out weekly feedback emails to researchers as and when required, and identify to the Data Team Manager where additional coaching is required for a particular project/process
  • Performing final quality checks on completed projects before submission to Data Team Manager for final review
  • Ensuring each project is delivered in accordance with the highest Data Entry Standards in mind, and optimum use of relevant research sources
  • Ensuring the Data Researchers are always adhering to the 3 year recency rule with every delivered project and that best practice is always in use when dealing with customer and prospect data
  • Responsible for the induction and training of new starters on the Data Research Team Ensuring all data research training documentation is kept up to date
  • From time to time you will be asked and expected to complete ad hoc data entry tasks.

Technical skills
  • High standard of written English.

  • Must have good organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure, observing tight deadlines, and capable of managing many projects at the same time.
  • Excellent communication skills.


Personal Experience:

  • Ideally you will have a minimum of 8 GCSE A-C (or equivalent) and a minimum of 2 A-Levels (A-D) (or equivalent). A degree is not necessary but would be an advantage.
  • Thorough understanding of the legal market and business lawyer communities, types of law practices, their structures and requirements
  • Data research experience in the legal industry is a must
  • Experience of market research is preferable
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when dealing with data.
  • Must have good organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure, observing tight deadlines, and capable of managing many projects at the same time.
