Product Owner, Editorial Tools – 12 Months FTC (Maternity Cover)

Business Unit:

Regulatory Intelligence sits within the Risk division of Thomson Reuters Financial & Risk. The division provides regulatory content in the form of news and analysis, source materials and regulatory events predominantly for the Financial Services division.

Position Title: Product Owner, Editorial Tools – 12 Months FTC (Maternity Cover)

Role Summary:

This role is to provide maternity cover for product management of the suite of editorial tools and publishing pathways (Jetstream) that support the growth and development of the Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence (TRRI) product, and maintenance of some legacy products

The editorial tools include News & Alerts, Codesbench, Activiti, and legacy publishing processes such as ETL / Re-ingest and De-Dupe.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Own the roadmap and communicate the Jetstream vision
  • Provide Expert guidance on strategy, design, business requirements, feature and functionality tradeoffs and release schedule for Jetstream
  • Maintain product backlog and release schedule, directing Business Analysts and Scrum Teams to ensure publishing tool product /pathway deliverables are met
  • Ensure Scrum Teams are working on the highest priority items, and have a groomed backlog of two sprints at all times
  • Collaborate with and influence cross-functional product, development, and operational teams to ensure dependencies for Jetstream delivery are met.
  • Work closely with TRRI Product, Content Operations and Editorial staff to ensure requirements from all stakeholders are captured in the backlog as they emerge
  • Demonstrates expertise on Regulatory Intelligence products and industry trends
  • Helps develops and execute plans to sunset obsolete publishing tools and services

Key Relationships:

  • Ability to work in lock-step with TRRI Product Managers to influence and execute upon short, medium and long term product strategy.
  • Working across the peer group of Product Managers to understand the respective roadmaps and strategies and how this influences the Jetstream
  • Working with Business Analysts and Scrum Teams.
  • A strong client focus and ability to communicate confidently and professionally at all levels of an organization.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • In depth knowledge – and proven practice - of Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience working with a development and business analyst team across different timezones, predominantly US and UK based.
  • Proven background of taking significant products to market under aggressive timelines.
  • Knowledge of product managing browser based desktop content applications.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Ability to understand and apply technology to product development.
  • Ability to drive a direct and indirect team to execute product strategy.
  • Superior client engagement skills, including ability to build and manage client relationships.
  • Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to influence internal and external audiences. Excellent written skills, including experience writing comprehensive business and functional requirements.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and prioritization skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Financial Services
  • MBA or similar qualification preferred but not essential

Education/ Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent required
  • MBA or similar qualification preferred but not essential
