Polling Specialist - Asia Financial Markets
The Reuters Polls team in Bangalore is seeking a Specialist Correspondent to bolster and expand our proprietary surveys of select financial markets in Asia.
This new role is aimed at building on existing success on the extremely popular Reuters Poll offering in foreign exchange, money markets and bond yields and stock markets, and to expand the offering to some of the fastest-growing Asian economies where we have the greatest client demand and expanding readership.
In addition to building up our source list and sample sizes for FX, fixed income and equity markets across the region, the successful candidate will be at the centre of the outlook for trends in Asian financial markets and be required to report and write broad-reaching stories on survey conclusions, collaborating with other correspondents on the wider Reuters Polls team. S/he will look for new ways and topics to poll leading strategists, fund managers and analysts on what is driving markets and frame questions that aim at addressing the most topical issues facing them.
S/he should have a passion for digging through datasets, finding stories or developing trends nobody else has noticed, all the while maintaining our reputation for accuracy and our brand as the world's leader in professional polling. The ideal candidate should have a background in economics or markets or both and have a passion to learn. S/he will have a track record of developing new contacts and writing stories with the accuracy, speed, context and freedom from bias that our customers demand. S/he will also look to build a file of initiative stories once the basic product is built.
The Polling Specialist - Asia Markets will:
• Identify market moving events to conduct polls on
• Plan and coordinate Asia market polls packages effectively
• Develop strong relations with key sources already established and expand the source lists to ensure the participants that matter most are always present on key polls
• Lead regular discussions on subjects in the domain with the global team
• Develop strong links with reporters and editors globally
• Develop sector specialization through research, networking etc.;
• Be innovative and flexible in providing coverage by suggesting improvements, challenging accepted norms and introducing new ways of storytelling
The chosen candidate will report to the Editor in Charge, Reuters Polls in Bengaluru but will also work with the Global Editor, Reuters Polls and Economic Data in London on setting goals for coverage.
