Reuters is looking for an excellent journalist for the role of Politics Editor in our Washington bureau. The editor will take on some of the biggest stories in the world as Donald Trump overhauls U.S. policies almost across the board -- from trade and diplomacy to immigration and regulation - and the presidency itself. The Trump-Russia investigation, power struggles inside the White House, and Trump's volatile relations with lawmakers, business executives and world leaders will all determine whether he succeeds or fails.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of politics, policy and business, and can work well with reporters to drive our daily news coverage and enterprise reporting on these important stories. The editor , who will report to the Washington Bureau Chief, will also have a major role in designing and executing our coverage of the 2020 presidential election.
- A track record of reporting and writing ambitious, exclusive and high-impact stories
- Ability to cultivate sources and gain access to exclusive documents
- Strong news judgement and excellent editing skills
- Leadership experience and ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies
- Understanding of multimedia elements to enhance stories, from graphics to pictures and video
