Primary Objective(s)

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Legal Writer to research and write and publish legal news articles for legal practitioners on developments in litigation, enforcement, regulation and legal transactions. This role will focus on one or more of the following practice areas: securities litigation, capital markets, corporate finance, products liability, data privacy, and/or intellectual property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write and self-edit short legal news articles.
  • Prioritize concurrent projects and meet challenging daily deadlines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of select areas of law, continually increasing subject matter expertise.
  • Demonstrate customer focus by analyzing and anticipating interests of a legal professional audience.
  • Assist with publishing workflow as needed.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • J.D. preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in legal journalism, news or other professional legal writing.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting rigorous deadlines.
  • Superior writing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with Associated Press style.
  • Proven news judgment and analytical ability.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting rigorous deadlines.
  • Experience using Westlaw and other online legal research platforms.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master new technologies.
