"This role sits within our Financial & Risk ("F&R") business. On January 30, 2018, Thomson Reuters announced that it signed a definitive agreement to enter into a strategic partnership with private equity funds managed by Blackstone related to the company's F&R business. As part of the transaction, Thomson Reuters has agreed to sell a 55% majority stake in Financial & Risk and will retain a 45% interest in the business. Thomson Reuters will maintain full ownership of its Legal, Tax & Accounting and the Reuters News businesses. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year and is subject to specified regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. When the transaction closes, this role will be included in the new F&R entity. Position overview
The Financial & Risk business unit is the home for Thomson Reuters electronic trading capabilities. The goal of the division is to be the number one choice of trading venue for any participant operating in the financial markets and the sales specialists, product managers, technologists and client facing staff that make up F&R all share that same goal.
You will join a vibrant and high performing team of outstanding technologists, executing using leading edge technology. You will be working in a global organization with development groups and business stakeholders in several international locations. Therefore, good communication skills are crucial.
Essential Responsibilities
You will have deep technical skills, be able to quickly grasp and contribute to existing codebases and express design concepts. Your key responsibilities will be the implementation and unit testing of the Transactions Admin core systems. You will need to:
- Contribute to an Agile planning process
- Regularly interacting directly with product stakeholders
- Creating and document software design specifications
- Giving demos of new functionality
- Upholding rigorous quality standards
- Perform Unit and Integration testing of your code
- Undertake a 3rd line support role
Required Skills
- Exemplary Java EE and Spring Spring Framework programming skills
- Unit Testing using JUnit
- RESTful Web Services
- Continuous Integration (Gradle, Bamboo, Jenkins)
- Proficient with GIT
- Self-motivated, consistent high performer
- Team player
- Excellent academic record with a strong degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related discipline from a recognized institution
- Commercial experience in the field of software engineering
Also highly desirable
- Docker
- Experience of deploying applications into the cloud (AWS or similar)
- Proficient with SQL
- Automated deployment (Puppet)
- Automated testing techniques
- Proficient in Linux/Unix
