Description

Thomson Reuters is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to drive the development of our next generation Document Management Solution (DMS) for the ONESOURCE platform. The ideal candidate will have broad experience as a full-stack developer assisting with both front-end and backend web development.

This position will require working closely with management and other product stakeholders to oversee the development efforts of both in-house and contracted labor teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for software development and well versed with agile development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in a team leadership role by effectively managing priorities and assisting other team members.
  • Take responsibility for helping to build and ship high quality software.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of short-term and long-term solution options, and make recommendations to business and technology leadership.
  • Have the capability to work independently, taking ownership of problems.
  • Help mentor and coach junior team members to promote Engineering Excellence.
  • Provide technical leadership. Lead release/sprint planning sessions with team members to define and analyze requirements, provide technical design insights, and help with story point estimation.
  • In conjunction with team architects and business analysts, transform high level business requirements into technical specifications, designs and architectures.
  • Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required, Computer Science degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting software in an enterprise or SaaS environment
  • Strong skills with hands on programming, design, and deep functional experience with micro-services architecture, crafting and deploying Web applications and APIs (REST, JSON, XML, SOAP) using .NET and ASP.NET Core
  • Experience in building cloud-native applications is highly desired, experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) preferred
  • Experience with Front-End Framework technologies desired (JavaScript, HTML5, JQuery, JSON, JSP, Angular JS, React, Google Web Toolkit)
  • Open minded and strong experience in consuming Open-source technologies
  • Passionate about Lean, Agile and Iterative development methodologies
  • Ability to understand high level business requirements and produce technical specifications, designs and architectures
  • Comfortable with complex data structures and algorithms, and absorbing new technologies quickly

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the Tax & Accounting Industry
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks a plus
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server and Jira
  • Experience with Document Management and Workflow solutions
  • Proficient in database technologies (SQL, PostgreSQL, and/or NoSQL)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
