International service correspondent

Reuters news agency is looking for a first-rate correspondent who can tell a global audience about Russia, its businesses and its economy. They will require a cool head and strong nerves to make sure that market-moving news reaches our clients accurately and on time. They will need the determination to track stories that our competitors cannot get. And finally, they must have the expertise to spot a trend before anyone else, and the flair to tell international readers about it in a compelling way. This is a position of enormous responsibility covering an area that is at the core of what Reuters does. The successful candidate will have experience of real-time financial journalism and they will need a sophisticated understanding of business, markets and economics. In addition, they must have proficient Russian, and be able to write fluently and quickly in English.

Essential day-to-day responsibilities:

Report daily news on Russia

Help the bureau win timings against our competitors

Generate ideas for reporting that stands out

Build and maintain sources among economic policy-makers

Produce exclusive stories

Deliver stories that give insight for a global audience

Required skills and experience:

At least two years experience in a news agency or similar environment.

Ability to operate under time pressure.

Strong grasp of business and economics.

Knowledge of Russian business and the economy an important asset.

Ability to write clearly, accurately and with flair.

Proficient spoken Russian.

Fluent spoken and written English.
