Role Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed financial models/analysis that with sensitivities evaluate the key drivers of shareholder value in order for the business to make sound business judgments
  • Collaborate with staff to create and validate synergy assumptions that may drive value
  • Act as the key go-to for research, and other problem solving/analytical tasks
  • Work with tax, legal etc. to help optimize the structure of a transaction to minimize the risks for Thomson Reuters
  • Project manage diverse internal and/or external teams during a deal, in particular during due diligence
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of strategy and how that relates to Business Development activity
  • Ensure that all deals adhere to the internal approval process and take accountability for the preparation of approval notes, including board papers
  • Support on valuation, detailed financial modeling, project management, deal structuring etc., taking account of tax and legal issues

Scope and Impact

  • Associates will have the aptitude to consider multicultural issues when working in teams
  • Associates will provide support on a broad range of transactions, primarily those which could result in Thomson Reuters selling, acquiring or investing to receive/divest equity or assets
  • In addition, the role will ensure governance is adhered to ensure M&A activity does not conflict with other areas within the Group
  • Key impacts: Provide robust and thorough analytical support to ensure that financial models, problem solving analysis, etc. provides insight to drive successful decisions

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in a Finance or business-related subject. Additional knowledge of Marketing and/or Technology a plus
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of the FX markets and derivatives markets and their workings gained through experience working in the banking, broking or buy-side
  • Ability to think laterally and outside the box
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to communicate, persuade, influence and operate at all levels of management
  • Appreciation of programming and databases.
  • Strong competence with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience, including senior management
  • Ability to cultivate new client relationships is also critical for success
