Reuters is looking for a copy editor with exceptional rewriting skills and news judgment for its Asia Desk in Bengaluru. The successful candidate will be adept at performing quickly under pressure as he/she works with reporters to produce compelling stories that appeal both to professional clients, who rely on Reuters to help make investment decisions and general readers, who access Reuters news through and media outlets.

Reuters is looking for an experienced subeditor with strong news judgment and excellent rewriting skills to join its Asia Desk in Bengaluru. This desk, which complements Reuters editing operations in Singapore, Australia and North Asia, is mainly responsible for handling market reports and breaking financial news from Reuters bureaus around the region across all asset classes, with particular emphasis on equities, commodities and energy. The desk also handles stories from Europe and the United States.


A strong background in editing/reporting, preferably in financial news
A sense of urgency, eye for detail and an ability to understand and simplify complex material
Ability to recognise potential legal dangers
A strong command of English and nuances of English grammar as well as ability to communicate effectively with reporters around the region whose first language may not be English
Ability to use, or learn to use, Reuters data and information tools to add value to copy and cross-check facts and figures


Edit stories to Reuters' high editorial and ethical standards, adhering to style, guidelines and policies laid out in the Reuters Operations Manual and Handbook of Journalism
Ensure that stories have the context, milestones and actionable content
Work in shifts within operational hours of between 5.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. India time


Graduate/Post-graduate with at least 10 years of sub-editing or reporting experience, preferably in financial news
A sound understanding of financial markets
Strong writing and editing skills, exceptional news judgment
