China Breaking News Editor

Reuters Beijing is looking for a dynamic and resourceful journalist to lead the fast-paced China breaking news operation. This is a crucial role at the heart of our coverage of the world's second-largest economy at a time of rising geopolitical tension and uncertainty. From monetary policy decisions that can roil global markets to closely-watched coal output figures, from secretive Communist Party plenums to simmering South China Sea tensions, the six-member Beijing speed team shifts gears deftly to handle breaking news from a variety of sources, with speed and accuracy. The successful candidate will have a cool head under pressure and be proactive in finding ways to get time-sensitive news onto screens as quickly as possible, constantly looking to improve processes and automate where possible, while working closely with international and domestic service colleagues across the Beijing and Shanghai newsrooms. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic journalist with a competitive streak to lead a key area of Reuters' China coverage.
